Women's Equality Day

WOMEN'S EQUALITY DAY

Women’s Equality Day is celebrated every year on 26 August in the United            States to provide the American women’s  empowerment towards equality with          men.

The 37th US President Richard Nixon, becoming the first president to do this and he officially declared the date as women’s rights day. Since then, every US President has started to announce and declare the 26th August as Women’s Equality Day.

It was first recognized in 1971 to continue the efforts of women to achieve equality.

Later it was rectified by the US nineteenth amendment constitution, which assured the American women’s right.

When more and more women work, then the economy will grow. Women’s  empowerment boosts overall productivity, increases economic diversification, integrity and income equality in addition to other positive development outcomes in the economy.

Research suggests that increasing Indian states’ spending on education by 1% of GDP would raise female labour force participation by 2 percentage points.

Therefore by providing equal opportunity to men and women the economy will become a stronger economy.

A coin has two aspects,

one is head and another is tail,

But Women’s has several aspects,

She sometimes plays a role of Daughter,

Sometimes plays a role of Wife,

And sometimes plays a role of mother,

Sometimes plays a role of Sister,

And also sometimes plays a role of model…

Rural women of India play several important roles and producers of goods and services as well as their domestic chores and wives and mothers. The study of women aimed to assess the socioeconomic conditions of 200 rural women respondents from the villages they contribute in terms of general household activities 73% of the labor in Makanpur and 70% in Varsaitpur.

In terms of agricultural activities, women contributed 40% in Makanpur and 66% of agricultural labor and 40% in Varsaitpur 59% of agricultural labor.

Hence, the contribution of women in Makanpur 52% is more as compared to Varsaitpur which is 49%.If women’s participation in economic development is to be enhanced, women must be provided the following services: training in income generating activities, easy access to low-interest loans, and family planning services etc.

Although there should be proper Government policies which encourage and boost the women’s confidence in full participation and contribution in economic development.
